This butterfly feeder is designed to hold a ripened banana. A copper vine with two clusters of red berries is shaped to hang the banana. Butterflies feed on very ripe bananas. A banana that is not ripe(brown it turning brown) will not fit well in the feeder, they shrink as they ripen. Fruit may also attract a variety of other insects, so these will be best in a garden and not on a porch, deck or patio area. I would suggest peeling one strip or putting a slice in the peel to expose the fruit a little. Each feeder may vary slightly as they are hand made.
