In legacy mode, the bridge allows older PCI chips and adapters to be used with the PCI processor system. Unlike this, the PEX 8112 not only allows downstream PCI systems to be fully configured from the PCI bus, but also handles limited PCI root functions for reverse interrupt events and power management.
