The ideal setting is 1/3 the breaking strain of your line. For example, if you have 15kg line, 5kg should read on the scale when line begins to slip from the reels spool. This is achieved by one person holding the outfit adjusting the drag tension whilst another person is walking away smoothy reading the scales until the correct setting is achieved.
