They are obtained by steam distillation of various parts of aromatic plants. They consist of the recondensed aqueous phase separated from the essential oil, if present. During the steam distillation process, aromatic hydrosols are typically harvested over a period of one hour, so that the richness of the aromatic hydrosol provides a significant fragrance characteristic of the distilled aromatic plant. Some, seeking extreme profitability, harvest volumes of distillation water over much longer periods (3 to 4 hours), but the product is not as useful as a treatment because its effectiveness is very poor compared to a truly authentic, concentrated hydrosol. Unlike essential oils obtained through the same extraction process, aromatic hydrosols contain, in addition to aromatic and terpene molecules, other molecules of a different nature. In fact, the steam extracts other active ingredients that, being hydrophilic, are found in the hydrosol. Its composition is therefore particular and unique. Roman chamomile hydrolate is recommended to be applied twice a day, in the morning and/or at night, for the care of the face, body, and hair. On the eyelids: spray onto a cotton ball and place on closed eyelids for 15 minutes. Apply with a cotton ball or spray: Dampen a cotton ball or spray from a distance of 20 cm directly onto the face, scalp, or any other area of the body. Allow to dry naturally, if possible. Use within 6 months of opening. Store in a cool, dark place. Do not spray directly into eyes. Keep out of reach of children.
